ResQ Club & Corona pandemic
While coronavirus has had a huge effect on the world, and even more so on the foodservice or catering industry, ResQ Club operates as it has been for years. At this point, there might be an even higher demand for surplus food marketplace than before.
Any restaurant, café, or grocery store can use ResQ to sell their surplus products normally, as long as they are discounted, and edible. In this article, you can find our more detailed guidelines.
Hygiene is always an important part of the food industry, but especially so during this pandemic. According to current knowledge, most of the common cleaning solutions will kill Coronavirus (COVID-19). Here are the best practices for cleaning:
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces at least daily (e.g. tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, handles, toilets, sinks)
Wear disposable gloves when cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. Gloves should be discarded after each cleaning.
Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer may be used.
How to survive?
During pandemics, customers are not moving as actively, as usual. That's why there needs to be some alternative ways to serve food. Here are some ideas:

Local Facebook groups are one of the best ways to advertise nowadays - use them!

If you change your opening hours, remember to update them on Google and Facebook.
Search for additional funding before you need it
Banks and governments might be flexible during exceptional times. Ask for a loan with a flexible payback schedule and see if your local government has additional methods to support companies during the crisis.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sell normally priced portions or food via ResQ?
In short: unfortunately not.
ResQ Club is a marketplace for surplus food. Remember that your surplus food prices need to be reduced from your list price significantly, for example, -50%. Read detailed guidelines here.
My business is suffering, can you lower your commission?
In short: The commission will stay the same for a surplus
We are aware of this exceptionally insecure situation for the whole industry. Meanwhile, we are not such a profitable company yet that we could reduce the commission for all our partners in able to help. In the end, this would lead us to a halt, or even to having to terminate our operations entirely.
After a long period of consideration, we decided that we would not make any changes to the commission of individual partners, because we want to treat our partners equally. It would be unfair to lower the commission only for those partners who ask us for it - especially since often those who are in the weakest position do not ask for help.
Can you help us by advertising our offers?
In short: We do it already.
In the ResQ Club app, there are multiple ways to make sure customers are finding your offers. We send out email recommendations, push notifications, and other kinds of messages to customers who are near your venue. We also advertise our best partners (see Best of ResQ) on our social media channels regularly.
